Obituary

Neil Mayne Lindstrom, age 84, was surrounded by family as he entered the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, April 20, 2021. Visitation and receiving of friends will be held from 3 – 6 p.m., Sunday, April 25 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. A celebration of Neil's life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 26 at Christ United Methodist Church. Neil will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery following the service.

Neil was born October 31, 1936 in Sterling, CO, Neil was the fourth of eight children to bless Leo and Enid Lindstrom. His childhood was spent on the family farm. Neil graduated from Sterling High School in 1954. He played the saxophone for the high school band which was nationally recognized for performances done in Atlantic City and Washington D.C. The band was also invited to the White House.

In 1956, Neil entered a Diesel School program in Wahpeton, North Dakota and then Nashville, Tennessee. When he got back from diesel school, Neil signed up to serve in the National Guard. He remained a part of the reserves for 8 years.

Upon returning home from training and service Neil bought his first piece of ground and thus began his very own farming operation in 1960.

In 1965 he met Judith, a local teacher. They fell in love and were married on June 10, 1966. Together they loved traveling. They went on many cruises, vacations to timeshares and adventures in the travel trailer. In 1981, Neil and Judy sponsored the relocation of two Asian families.  This was one of Neil's greatest sources of joy.

Upon retirement, they moved to Sterling where Neil enjoyed going on cruises, working on his yard, going for walks, and driving around the countryside.

He was preceded in death by his brother Lathan, father Leo, and mother Enid. He enjoyed every day of his life with his wife Judy Lindstrom of 54 years, brothers: Wilbur, Wendel, Alan, and Charles (Nancy) Lindstrom, sisters: Leta Andrews and Roberta Schneidau, countless nieces, nephews, extended family and beloved friends.

Neil will be greatly missed by all. His genuine smile, tender heart, patient demeanor, and shenanigans will forever be in our memories until we see him again.
