IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Naomi Evelyn
Malone
December 1, 1936 – June 30, 2025
Naomi Evelyn (Dunbar) Malone, age 88, of Sunland, CA, peacefully met her Savior's face in her daughter's home, surrounded by her children, on June 30, 2025, in Sterling, Colorado. She leaves behind a legacy woven with love, strength, resilience, and grace, all rooted in unwavering faith in Jesus, her Lord and Savior. Born on December 1, 1936, in Fleming, Colorado, to Alton (Babe) Norris Dunbar and Dorothy Evelyn (Saylor) Dunbar, Naomi was a talented and gifted woman who touched every life she encountered with the love of Jesus reflected in her acts of gracious hospitality. After graduating from Fleming High School in 1954 and working briefly in Sterling, she boarded a bus and headed to Southern California Bible College, now Vanguard University, in Costa Mesa, California.
On July 6, 1957, Naomi Dunbar and Robert Malone were married in her hometown of Fleming, Colorado, and honeymooned by traveling back to California. Between 1959 and 1962, three girls were born to this couple, completing their family. In 1964, they received a missionary appointment from the Assemblies of God, and in the summer of 1965, they boarded a cargo freighter bound for Manila, Philippines, carrying God's message of love and redemption. Over the next 16 years, Naomi and Robert ministered overseas, first in the Philippines for 4 ½ years and then in South Korea from 1970 to 1981. In 1983, they moved to the Los Angeles area, where they continued their ministry by pioneering and pastoring a church in Mission Hills, California, for 33 years until her husband's stroke in 2017. In the years that followed, Naomi continued to minister to her neighbors and many others who crossed her path.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Malone; her parents, Alton and Dorothy Dunbar; her brother, Lindell Dunbar; and her brother-in-law, Roger McElroy. She will be missed by her daughters, Rhonda (William) Bradburn of Boise, ID; Linda (Timothy) Hazen of Sterling, CO; and Sheri (Terry) Herr of Blue Ridge, VA; her sister, Eldora McElroy of Citrus Heights, CA, and her brother, Daniel (Ruth) Dunbar of Visalia, CA. Naomi will be greatly missed by her nine grandchildren and their spouses, her seventeen great-grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and many members of God's precious family whom she and her husband served faithfully.
