Mildred Mae Boehmer, 91, formerly of Sterling, passed away Jan. 20, 2013, in Colorado Springs. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at First English Lutheran Church, with the Rev. David Loeschke officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Mildred was born Dec. 3, 1921, in Lucas, Kan., to Johnnie W. and Ruby Iva (Cullens) Broyles. She graduated from Hunter High School and came to Sterling to attend Northeastern Junior College. She was in the first class at NJC, where she met her future husband.

On April 2, 1942, she married Gerald "Jerry" Boehmer in Sidney, Neb. They were privileged to have 54 years together. Their pride and joy were their son, Darryl, and daughter, Debra.

Mildred worked at Woolworth, then at Goodrich Dairy, until her son was born. She enjoyed being a wife and mother until her children were in school. She then worked at M&H Auto Parts and later McLavey Parts for 25 years.

She is survived by her son, Darryl Boehmer and wife Jan of Colorado Springs; daughter, Debra Whipkey and husband Leroy of Sterling; granddaughter, Katelyn Sheehan and husband Patrick of Colorado Springs; great-grandsons, Riley and Owen Sheehan of Colorado Springs; half-brother, Richard Broyles and wife Jill of Greeley; and sister-in-law, Janice Broyles of Dix, Neb.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Boehmer in 1996; parents; stepfather, Lee Bruce; brother, Wilbur Broyles; and half-brother, Robert Broyles.
