Mervin 'Mert' Schoenberg

Mervin "Mert" Schoenberg, 73, of Sterling, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007, in Sterling. Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home with Eldon Callahan officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.
Mr. Schoenberg was born May 13, 1934, to Alexander and Marie K. (Debus) Schoenberg in Padroni. He graduated from Padroni High School in 1958.
He served in the U.S. Army as a private from 1956 until his discharge in 1958. He lived in the Padroni area until he retired from farming in 1996. He worked as an area route distributor for the Journal-Advocate until June 2006.
On Dec. 29, 1967, he married Trila Dooley in Brush.
He was of the Lutheran faith, and was a member of the BPO Elks Lodge No. 1336, and the American Legion Post No. 20.
Mr. Schoenberg is survived by his wife, Trila Schoenberg of Sterling; daughter, Dana Jo Stumpff and husband Kevin of Sterling; sister, Delores Stull and husband Doug of Thornton; and two grandchildren, Tanner James and Lyndi Stumpff, both of Sterling.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Tina Schoenberg; and son, Kyle Schoenberg in 2001.
