Meredith Elaine Teske, 63, of Sterling, Colorado, died May 9th, 2010 at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, Colorado following a short illness.
Visitation and viewing will be from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. May 14th, 2010 at Chaney – Reager Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Saturday May 15th 10:30 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joyce DeToni-Hill officiating.
Meredith was born January 8, 1947 in Maryville, Tennessee, to Gladys (Phelps) and Ulas Morton. She grew up in Atwood and attended Merino schools. She was active in various school and church affairs during her high school career. She was Valedictorian of the 1965 Merino High School graduating class and was awarded a scholarship from the Logan County Nurse
Scholarship association.
On December 17, 1965, she married James Leland Teske in Sterling, Colorado. She worked at the Logan County Hospital and Mountain Bell Telephone Company.
Meredith moved, with her family, to Arizona in 1973 where she worked for US West as an Operator and Load Control Analyst. She was an active leader in the Thunderbird 4-H Club in Queen Creek, Arizona.
After retirement, Meredith moved back to Sterling, Colorado in 2007. She was a member of the Daughter's of Union Veterans (DUV). As a long term a cancer survivor, she supported local cancer awareness and fund raising events. She also participated and supported the Miracle Letter Program. She loved to cook and be the "command and control center" for gatherings of family and friends.
She is survived by her brother Allen and wife Janice Morton of Sterling; sister Luann Morton-Earl and husband Wayne of Hillrose; daughter Michele Rencken, husband David, and grandson Gregory of Tucson, Arizona; son Richard of Wiesbaden, Germany; aunt Georgia Collins of Mount Dora, Florida; nephew Camron and wife Amy Morton; nephew Josh and wife Kara Morton; several cousins, great nieces and nephews, and very close friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Ulas; mother Gladys; husband James; grandparents and many aunts and uncles.
