Maurice "Morty" Miles Clevenger, 82, of Sterling, died July 21, 2009, in Sterling. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, July 23, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 24, at Zion Congregational Church, with the Rev. Chuck Vorderberg was officiating.

Interment will be at the Haxtun Cemetery in Haxtun.

Mr. Clevenger was born March 12, 1927, in Red Lion.

On Aug. 22, 1948, he married Wilma Koehler in Crook. He began his married life farming in Crook.
Mr. Clevenger worked 37 years for Sinton's Dairy. His employment with Sinton's took him to Denver and later to Colorado Springs. He retired in 1992 and moved to Sterling in 1993.

He was a member of the Zion Congregational Church in Sterling. He was also an Elk.

Mr. Clevenger is survived by his wife of 61 years, Wilma; son, Larry Clevenger and wife Sue; daughter, Vickie Buckley and husband Scott; grandchildren, Chris Clevenger and wife Laura, Shanon Tatham, Matthew Buckley and wife Becky and Courtney French and husband Jim; great-grandchildren, Corey Tatham, Brianna and Colton Clevenger and Ava and Claire French.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleo and Grace Clevenger; and brother, Ivan Clevenger.
