Obituary

Mary Olive (Hager) Wiebers, 89 earned her angel wings on Friday, April 18, 2025, after a short illness in Holyoke, Colorado. Viewing will be held from 1-6:00 p.m., Thursday, April 24 at Halouska Family Chaney-Reager FH with family to receive friends from 4-6:00 p.m. A celebration of Mary's life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 25 at Christ United Methodist Church with Rev. Kristie Firme as officiant. Inurnment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Sterling, CO.

Mary Olive (Hager) Wiebers was born in Fountain, Colorado at her Hager Grandparent's home on December 31, 1935, to her parents, Lewis E. and Helen B. (McGuire) Hager. She attended schools at Limon (1-7), Harding (8), and Sterling (9-12), and graduated in 1953. She attended one year at Northeastern Junior College.

In June 1954, Mary married John Edward Wiebers of Fleming. They met at the Red Rocks Sunrise Service held on Easter morning April 18th. Ed and Mary made their home south of Fleming where they lived, farmed, and raised their family. They are the parents of: Loretta (Ross) Davidson, Scott (Susie) Wiebers, Ron (Gloria) Wiebers, Barbara Mease, Arlene (Tim) Carper, Darlene (Buck) Widgery, Laurie Jo (Pete) Kjosness, Janelle (Doug) Phelps, Daniel (Tina) Wiebers and Brenda (Kirk) Drew.

Family was extremely important to Mary. She collected family information, wrote and sent the weekly computer family newsletter. This was a passion she maintained until very recently. Mary loved interacting with her family, watching them grow, reaching goals and making dreams a reality.

She worked 15.5 years for the United States Post Office as a postal clerk starting in 1985 at Haxtun, Colorado. She also served as a clerk for the Fleming and Sterling post offices.

Mary was a member of the United Methodist Women, serving in local and district officer positions.  She sent thousands of cards from the "Sunshine Club" on behalf of the church. She was a charter member of the community "Hello, Neighbors" Club, belonged to the New Haven Card Club, was a Rebekkah in the Odd Fellows organization, and a Farmers Union member. She maintained her membership with the Fleming Methodist Church at the time of her passing.

She enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling, wheat weaving, genealogy, arranging flowers, in addition to the time she spent with family and friends.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Faye Kirby, brothers, Ray and Henry Hager and son-in-law, Rick Mease. Survivors include her husband, Ed, their ten children and spouses, as well as her 21 grandchildren, 20 great- grandchildren, sisters-in-laws: Lydia and Sharon Hager, Betty Allen, Dorothy Griess, numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.  A life well-lived!
