Marlene Joyce Stanley, 89, died Friday, January 17, 2025, in Sterling, CO. A celebration of Marlene's life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Halouska Family Chaney-Reager Funeral Home with Pastor Zach Swiger presiding. The service will conclude at the funeral home.

Marlene was born September 27, 1935, in Sterling, CO to Wallace John Bunning and Gladys Edna (Monroe) Bunning. She graduated from Iliff High School in 1953. She met Lloyd Stanley at the Logan County Fair. They continued attending the fair throughout the years, enjoying the many events.

Lloyd and Marlene Joyce Bunning were united in marriage on May 29, 1954. They shared 65 years of marriage.

Marlene worked various customer service positions, taking an early retirement from Mountain Bell. Her retirement came when the grandchildren started arriving. She spent tireless hours caring for her husband, grandchildren, and their many faithful companions. Marlene was an avid gardener and excellent baker. Marlene's family was a huge part of her life, and she never met an animal she didn't love.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd and her parents Wallace and Gladys.

Marlene is survived by her children: Vickie (Ken) Scheck of Sterling, CO, Joyce (Scott) Swanson of Golden, CO and Steve (Karen) Stanley, Sterling, CO; 9 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren and her faithful companion Blackie.
