Marjorie Louise (Flicker) Gaynor, 89, of Atwood, died at home on Aug. 8, 2009. Private services will be held. Cremation was conducted, and inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery.
Mrs. Gaynor was born Aug. 20, 1919, in Cawker City, Kan., to William Edward Flicker and Emma Sarilda (Schoen) Flicker. The family moved to Lenora, Kan., where they raised Hereford cattle. Later, they moved to Hill City, Kan., where her father worked on a bridge crew.
She graduated from Hill City High School. She came to Colorado to be near her sister, Margaret Kenyon and husband Wilbur, who farmed at Padroni. She worked for David and Gen Hamil of Atwood.
She met Wayne Marjorie Louise Gaynor Gaynor at a dance near Atwood. They married Feb. 12, 1939, in McCook, Neb. They celebrated 69 years of marriage.
They farmed for Will Logan and then purchased their own farm in 1953. There they farmed, ranched and raised their children, Bill and Kay.
After they sold their farm, they moved to Sterling. She worked at Townsend Rexall Drug and later at the Heritage Center. Later they moved back to Atwood.
Mrs. Gaynor retired at the age of 81 after working at the Atwood Post Office.
She is survived by her son, Bill Gaynor and wife Denise of Atwood; daughter, Kay Dreyer of Brighton; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne, in 2008; one granddaughter, Debra Kay Martin; and three sons-in-law, Bill Martin of Holyoke, Ed Lewis of Brighton and Donald M. Dreyer of Brighton.
