Marjorie Sue (Ballinger) Fowler, affectionately known as Sue, 72, of Sterling, Colorado, passed away at her home on Saturday, July 11, 2026. Sue will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens next to her beloved father and sister.
Sue was born on December 10, 1952, in Sterling, Colorado, to Virgil and Betty Ballinger. She graduated from Sterling High School in 1970. After graduation, she moved to Denver and began her career as a typesetter. She continued working in that field after moving to Florida in 1983. In 1990, she married Charlie Fowler. Following their divorce in 1996, she returned to Sterling, where she worked for Eastern Colorado Services for more than 20 years before retiring. Her patients often commented on her thoughtfulness and kindness.
Sue valued relationships over material things. She was very sentimental and cherished old photographs. Rather than receiving gifts, she requested cards for birthdays and holidays. She never forgot a birthday or anniversary and always took the time to let her family know how much they meant to her. Those closest to her were often touched by the photo collages she lovingly created as gifts.
Sue was preceded in death by her father, Virgil Ballinger; her sister, Judy Szabo; and her former brothers-in-law, Micky Szabo and Ken Lamoreaux.
Sue is survived by her mother, Betty Ballinger of Sterling, Colorado; her sister, Sandy Montano of Sterling, Colorado; her niece, Heidi (John) Doupe of Rapid City, South Dakota; her nephews, Scott (Michele) Szabo of Sterling, Colorado, Dan (Sherri) Szabo of Broomfield, Colorado, and Doug (Connie) Lamoreaux of Topsham, Maine. She is also survived by her special friends, Krista Johnson of Sterling, Colorado; Cheryl Cameron of Sterling, Colorado; Melody Metz of Snowflake, Arizona; Tom and Jan Sanchez of Denver, Colorado; and Chris Hargrove of Spokane, Washington.
