Marie Cecelia Slater

Marie Cecelia Slater, 87, of Sterling, CO passed away Thursday, March 19, 2026. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 26, at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father Joseph Oiye as celebrant. Marie will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery.

Marie was born on December 27, 1938, in Baltimore, Maryland to John P. and Marie C. (Denson) Bolton. She attended school at St. Martin High School in Baltimore, Maryland and graduated with the class of 1957. She worked in civil service overseeing government contracts at Vandenberg AFB, in California for 30 years. Marie married Charles E. Slater III on April 30, 1960, in Baltimore, Maryland.

Marie was a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary Vandenberg Post 125. She enjoyed reading and volunteering at her local thrift shop.

She is preceded in death by her husband Charles E. Slater III, son Charles E. Slater IV, parents John and Marie Bolton, and her brother John Bolton Jr.

Marie is survived by her daughter Maureen (Tim) Anderson of Iliff, CO, daughter-in-law Judith Slater of Valencia, CA, grandchildren Nick (Kasey) Anderson of Sterling, CO, Emily (Kole) Dennis of Iliff, CO, and Riley Slater of Valencia, CA and great-grandchildren Kylie & Lucy Anderson, and Levi and Brooks Dennis.
