Marie Jensen Couch passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 12, 2023.  She was born on October 26, 1928, in Grant, NE.  She spent most of her life in Sterling, CO where she worked in banking for many years.  She was also very involved in GOP local, state, and national initiatives.  She was very proud to serve on the selection committee for the US service academies for many years.  In her retirement, she and her husband enjoyed being snowbirds in Arizona during the Winter months.  Over the last 7 years, she lived in Centennial, CO with her daughter and grandsons who were devoted to loving and caring for her.

Marie ("Grammy" as she was known to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren) was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clyde Couch, her mother Gladys Thorpe, her father Roy Jensen, and her brother Ronald Jensen.  She is survived by her son Michael A Couch (Janet), daughter Kristine Couch, 5 grandchildren - Jennifer Neveras (Gary), Jeff Couch (Janine), Matthew Johnson, Adam Johnson (Jenni), Andrew Johnson (Jacquie), and 8 great-grandchildren - Josh, Owen, Charlie, Emma, Georgie, Alex, Carmella, and Grace.

She was devoted to her family and was always there to guide, support and cheer them on.  She was brilliant, kind, hard-working, and cherished her family and friends.  She loved to travel with her husband and was determined to visit all 50 states in the US, which she did.  She was incredibly smart and impossible to beat at most games, especially Rummikub, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune!  She was an avid reader and loved to play solitaire and solve crossword puzzles.

She loved to make pancakes shaped like smiley faces and chickens for her grandchildren, and she always cut them up just right.  She also was famous for giving the best back scratches, and always had a long line of grandkids waiting for their turn.  She was patient and made sure we knew we could come to her for advice and was always ready with a hug and a comforting hand squeeze to reassure us.

While her family and friends will miss her dearly, we are so grateful for the many wonderful years we had together and all the memories we made.  She was a good and faithful servant on Earth, and we are comforted knowing she was reunited in Heaven with her husband and all of the loved ones who went before her.  We thank everyone who knew and loved her for the way you all contributed to her long, beautiful life.
