Margaret Louise Pierce
1943 - 2008
Margaret Louise Pierce, of Sterling, was born September 28, 1943 and passed away on Aug. 14, 2008. She was 64 years old.
A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 20, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home, with John Chapdelaine officiating. Services will conclude at the funeral home.
Margaret was born unto John and Lois Stockham in Ovid. In 1961, she graduated from Boulder High School in Boulder.
It is believed by those who knew her best that her life truly began when she met the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Pierce. The two met at a volunteer firemen's picnic in the summer of 1961.
The couple was married on Aug. 24, 1963, and would be celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary this month. It was a love affair to be envied, with more love than most people may ever know.
They moved to Sterling in June of 1967 after Bob joined the Colorado State Patrol.
Margaret eventually began work at the Logan County District Court, where she later promoted to District Court Administrator. She retired in September of 2003.
Family was Margaret's first and foremost priority, something she shared in common with her husband. A day never went by without a phone call to the kids and grandchildren. A Christmas concert was never missed, an accomplishment never unnoticed.
Margaret and Bob vacationed in Hawaii many times, and they enjoyed taking their family on two trips to the Hawaiian Islands. After Bob's death in February of 2005, Margaret was able to take the entire family on one last trip.
Besides spending time with her family, Margaret enjoyed traveling and surrounded herself with things from the Hawaiian Islands. Her home was decorated with the tropical theme, her new dog was appropriately named Nani, and she always tended to the Hawaiian plants around her home.
In Margaret's loss, the world is missing a mother, a grandmother, a best friend, an angel. We will always miss her heart of gold, her need to help. But we will remember her one-of-a-kind personality, and be certain that she was one of the most loving women to walk the earth. It is hard to believe we will no longer hear the happiness in her voice when she said hello, or see her eyes light up when listening to a story. She led her life by example and has inspired many to lead a life such as she did. Mom, Grandma, we love and miss you. Aloha.
Margaret is survived by her son, Ken Pierce and wife Cindy of Haxtun; daughter, Kelli Reyes and husband Larry of Atwood; son, Randy Pierce of Sterling; and daughter, Dana Davis and husband Tom of Haxtun; grandchildren, Jessica, Macey and Kyle Pierce, Whitney and Aaron Reyes, Taylor and Austin Pierce, and Andrew, Brooklyn and Ryan Davis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; father, John; mother, Lois; brother, George; and sister, Marie.
Because of her love for animals, memorial contributions sent to the family will be donated to the Humane Society.
