Margaret Elaine (Roeder) Donnelly, 85, of Sterling, died Monday morning, Feb. 5, 2018, in Haxtun. Family will receive friends from 2 - 4 pm on Sunday, Feb. 11 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 12, at the Sterling Church of the Nazarene with Pastor William Couchenour officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Donnelly was born Nov. 22, 1932 in Norton County, Kan., to Irvin Lawrence and Esta Viola (Peterson) Roeder. She married Oscar Leon Donnelly Sept. 20, 1950, in Norton, Kan. They moved to Sterling in 1950. She worked at the Bluebird Cafe many years until she returned to school to be a nurse after her husband died. She received her LPN degree from Northeastern Junior College in 1980. She worked at Logan County Hospital, and then moved to Hugo in 1985, working at Lincoln Community Hospital and Nursing home before returning to Sterling in 1998. She retired as a LPN.

She had six children: Elaine Milheim (Dave DeHerrera), Pat Simpson, Joyce DeHerrera (Lenny), Connie Bornhoft (John), all of Sterling; Dave Donnelly (Amy) of Broomfield and Anita Hershberger (Forrest) of Sidney, Neb.

She loved the Broncos and the Rockies. She enjoyed watching activities and sports with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Oscar Leon, sisters Delpha Steinmetz and Etta Bergeron, brother-in-law Tom Kimball, son-in-law Don Simpson, niece Kim Roeder and nephew Brad Roeder, granddaughter Jill Hershberger, great-grandson Tommy Troutman and her parents.

She is survived by brothers Floyd Roeder (Alice) of Hutchinson, Kan., and Jerry Roeder (Pam) of Norton, Kan., sisters Judy Kimball of Manhattan, Kan.; grandchildren Kenny Milheim (Pam) and Renee Martinez (Mario) both of Greeley, Teresa Ramos (Leonard), Jaclyn Diel (Nathan), Kelley Myers (Charlie), Megan Troutman (Todd) and Heather Lambert (Tyson), all of Sterling; Kendra Richards of Evans; Tammy Hilliker (Monty), Kim DeHerrera (Russell Swatzell), all of Cheyenne, Wyo.; Benjamin Donnelly (Eryn) of Arvada; Andrew Donnelly (Darbi); and Jacob Donnelly of Broomfield; and 18 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and close friends.

A memorial fund has been established in Mrs. Donnelly's honor in care of Chaney-Reager Funeral Home, PO Box 1046, Sterling, CO 80751.
