Marcelina (Benavides) Rivera, 83, of Sterling, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016 in Greeley.
Vigil Service and Recitation of the Rosary will be at 6pm, Mon, Jan. 18, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Closed casket service to be held at 10:30 am Tues., Jan. 19 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Iliff. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery. Following burial there will be a pot luck dinner at 1:00 pm at the Knights of Columbus.
Mrs. Rivera was born June 2, 1932, to Estephen and Louise Espinosa Benavides in Munday, Texas. Later they moved to Sterling and she worked in the fields for many years. She also worked at Sterling Heights Nursing Home and later became a homemaker and a lifelong babysitter. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church
She married Leo Rivera in Sterling Jan. 20, 1961.
Mrs. Rivera is survived by two daughters, Margarita and Belia Rivera, both of Sterling; three grandchildren Shayleen Avalos and Roman Rivera of Sterling, Rico Rivera of Greeley; and 5 great grandchildren Tamica and Monica Avalos, both of Sterling, Raul and Yesenia Avalos, both of Greeley, and Jesse Rivera of Greeley.
She was preceded by death by her parents, her husband, and all her brothers and sisters.
