Obituary

Mahlon Lee Meyerholz, 86, of Sterling, passed away Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008, in Sterling. Closed casket services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery.
Mahlon was born Sept. 23, 1922, to Carl and Myrtle (Beebe) Meyerholz in Crook. He attended schools in Crook and graduated from Crook High School, lettering in basketball, baseball and football.
He married Germaine Sewald, with whom he had two children, Virie and Myra.
Mahlon and Germaine moved to San Diego, Calif., where Mahlon worked for Consolidated Aircraft and Ryan School of Aeronautics until his enlistment in the Army Air Corps. He separated from the service in 1946 as a Second Lieutenant with a Pilot rating.
He returned to Sterling, where he worked for Firestone Stores until he opened his own service station, operating it for 17 years.
In 1971, he married Dorothy Todd.
He worked as a car salesman until his retirement in 1984. He spent later years traveling, fishing, hunting and visiting family and friends.
Mahlon was a lifetime member of the BPO Elks Lodge No. 1336.
He is survived by his son, Virie Meyerholz and Debbie of Panama City Beach, Fla.; daughter, Myra Rieke and husband Shawn of Johnstown; stepson, Rick Todd and wife Barb of Superior; stepdaughter, Diana Lauer and husband Gerald of Holyoke; three grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy; brothers, Glen, Floyd and Rudy; and sister, Ellen.
