Madonna Lou (Birt) Debus, age 88 passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023. A closed casket funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 24, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home with Reverend Brian Witherspoon officiating. Madonna will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery.

Madonna was born November 4, 1934, in Kimball, Nebraska to Arthur and Irene (Fisher) Birt. She lived in Paxton, NE and moved with her family to Crook, CO in 1949. She married Donald Debus on February 14, 1954. They were married just short of 69 years. To this union, 2 daughters and 2 sons were born, Valerie, Sharon, Gary and Greg.

Madonna was a member of United Church of Crook and currently a member of Zion Congregational Church of Sterling, where she was on the nurturing committee.

She was preceded in death by her husband Don, her parents, her 2 sisters, Frances Lebsack and Lyla Torgenson and brother Larry Birt.

Madonna is survived by her children Valerie (Sam) Simonson of Mullen, NE, Sharon Mollendor of Raleigh, NC, Gary (Roberta) Debus of Sedalia, CO, and Greg (Helen) Debus of Proctor, CO; 10 grandchildren, Jason (Carissa) Mollendor, Ryan Mollendor, Kristin Olson, Shane Simonson, Cody Debus, Brittany (Adam) Schlenz, Kira Debus, Alyssa Debus, Chloe Debus, and Hannah (Corey) Thorpe; 14 great grandchildren, Kinley, Jameson, Nicholas, Kaitlyn, Audrey, Walker, Nora, Anthony, Brailyn, Teegan, Bentley, Harper, Reagan and Lyla; her extended family and many friends and neighbors, Bob and Marci Callan, Chris and Julie Brower and family and special friend Alice Folladori.
