Lyndon Paul Mackey, 63, of Sterling, passed away Sept. 11, 2013, in Sterling. Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home, with Danny Williams officiating, with inurnment to follow at Riverside Cemetery.
Lyndon was born May 15, 1950, in Marlow, Okla., to Orval O. and Lula F. (Guymon) Mackey.
He moved to Sterling from Dalhart, Texas in 2002. He was a correctional officer with the Colorado Department of Corrections.
On June 8, 1974, he was married to Diane L. Williams in Midland, Texas.
Lyndon was a member of the Southern Baptist faith. He loved fishing and was always trying to perfect his famous salsa recipe. He enjoyed barbecuing and camping, four wheeling and exploring in the mountains.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Mackey of Sterling; son, Michael Paul Mackey of Sterling; daughters, Morgan Everett and husband Kimo of Grinnell, Iowa, Sara Gregory of Pineville, Mo.; daughter-in-law, Kaanan Mackey of Grinnell, Iowa; brother, Phil Mackey and wife Janelle of Wagoner, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orval and Lula Mackey; and son, Matthew Mackey.
