Lorraine L. Pivonka
Aug. 1, 1923 - May 2, 2008

Lorraine L. Pivonka, 84, of Sterling, died May 2, 2008, in Greeley. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today, May 5, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, at Chaney-Reager, with the Rev. Jay Littlefield officiating. Interment will be at Prairie View Cemetery in Stoneham.

Mrs. Pivonka was born Aug. 1, 1923, to Ralph E. and Lois (Osterholdt) Littlefield in New Raymer. She grew up in the Stoneham/New Raymer area, where she attended school and graduated from New Raymer High School.

On Aug. 23, 1942, she married John Pivonka in Sidney, Neb.

She was active in her children's activities, including being a softball coach. She loved to bowl and was a member of the challengers bowling group in Sterling.

Mrs. Pivonka also helped her husband manage their company, J & L Oil Corporation.

The couple enjoyed going on vacations. A few places they traveled included China, Japan, Indonesia, New Zealand, Australia, Egypt, Africa and all around the U.S. They also enjoyed visiting Las Vegas.

Mrs. Pivonka is survived by her daughters, Charlene Borders of Coldwater, Miss., and Robin Smith and husband Glenn of Greeley; son, Tim Pivonka of Loveland; sisters, Gerry Van of Greeley and Verlene Carlson of Spring, Texas; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Pivonka in 2004; and son, Michael Pivonka.
