Loretta Marie Junk

Loretta, Marie Junk, 91, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving family. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, September 4, at Halouska Family Chaney-Reager Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Rose officiating. Loretta will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery.

Loretta Marie Pullins was born on January 4, 1935, to Luther and Lorena (McKnelly) Pullins and was raised in Custer, South Dakota. On November 10, 1955, she married Lyonel Kirschbaum in Rapid City, South Dakota. After they were married, they traveled to Grand Island, Nebraska to begin their new life together.

Loretta and Lyonel had three children, two daughters and one son. In 1965, the family moved to Merino, Colorado. In 1976, Loretta lost Lyonel.

On June 12, 1981, Loretta married Gordon Junk. They continued to live in Merino, Colorado until his death in 1987. Loretta then sold the house and moved to Sterling, Colorado.

In 2011, Loretta moved in with her daughter, Jo Ellen Kirschbaum, with whom she lived with until her death.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her three brothers and five sisters; her first husband, Lyonel Kirschbaum; her second husband, Gordon Junk; and her oldest daughter, Patricia Ann Kirschbaum.

Loretta is survived by her daughter, Jo; her son, Charles Kirschbaum, and his wife, Kimberly; her grandson, Zackary Kirschbaum, and his wife, Emily; four granddaughters, Britney, and her spouse, Jacob Collett; Bryanna, Kayelani, and Carissa Kirschbaum; one great-granddaughter, Elijah; two great-grandsons, Brighton and Rory; and many nieces and nephews.
