Obituary

Loretta Kay (Bretz) Bell, 62 entered eternal life unexpectedly on Saturday, September 8, 2018. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 15 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Rocky Vass, a family friend will officiate the service.

Loretta was born October 1, 1955 to Adam and Anna Mary (Gertner) Bretz. She attended elementary, middle, and high school in Sterling. She left high school in the 11 th grade to care for her ailing father.  After her father passed she went to work for the White Center in Julesburg, CO taking care of developmentally disabled children. December 10, 1976, she married John Bell and together they began their family. They were married for 41 years. Loretta devoted her life to caring for their three children Kami, Sherry, and Arty. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafts, painting, gardening, decorating for the holidays, especially Halloween, decorating cakes, baking, and was an avid BINGO player. In the early 2000's secretly she completed her GED at NJC. Naturally, when her grandchildren were born, she blessed her children with assisting in raising them. Loretta worked at Rose Arbor (Sterling Living Center) for several years. She worked for RE-1 Valley school district for 6 years. In 2007, she revisited caring for some of the same developmentally disabled children from the White Center as adults for ECSDD. She also assisted in the care of two uncles who were terminally ill. Ultimately, Loretta's life was dedicated to caring and nurturing for those she loved.

She is survived by her husband John; daughters Kami Meraz and Sherry Bell; son Arty Bell and wife Sara; grandchildren, Alysa Bell and fiancé Spencer Vierow, Matthew Meraz, Zachary Hawley, Landon Bell, Brayden Saenz, Avery Bell, and Leah Bell; great grand-daughter Karsyn Veirow; siblings Helen Huey, and husband Tom, William (Bill) Bretz and wife Laura and Adam Bretz Jr., Robert Bretz, and wife Vicki, Margaret Delgado, and husband Albert; along with several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.
