Loren Harold Kerschner, 103, of Willard passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2017 in Sterling. Visitation will be 2-6 pm, Friday, August 4 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 5 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home with Pastor Spencer Green officiating. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Loren was born March 22, 1914 in a sod house four miles east of Willard, Colorado to Levi and Frances (Price) Kerschner.  He started school in a one room school house called Capitol Hill.  Later he attended school in Willard and graduated high school in 1933.

Loren worked for Rudolph Budin, Logan County Road Department, his uncle, Azor Kellogg (who farmed east of Sterling), Great Western Sugar Factory for several campaigns and on a ranch east of Walden, Colorado working with a haying crew.

Loren married Selma Pauline Nelson in 1939. They were married at the Willard Methodist Church.  They set up housekeeping on a rented farm ten miles west of Sterling on Highway 14.  They lived there for three years.  They bought their home place in 1941 which was located ten miles northwest of Willard.  Loren farmed his home place for fifty-two years.

He is preceded by his wife, Selma in August 1993; his brothers Howard, Kenneth, Robert, Frank, and Ralph; sister, Ruth Schaffer and one grandson, Nicholas Cross.

He is survived by one brother, Richard; sons, Paul (Carolyn) and Glen (Edith); six grandchildren, Lynn (Elena) Kerschner, Brenda (Randy) Nicholson, Scott (Doris) Kerschner, Cindy (Jim) Jensen, Connie (Mark) Edwards and Stacey Kerschner, nine great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
