Loren "Spike" Carwin of Rosebud, Montana passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the age of 88 years old. His wishes were for cremation and to have his ashes spread across his ranch in Montana. A memorial has been set for Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 11am at the Sterling Elks Lodge.
Spike was born on March 24, 1937, to Donald "Bum" and Pauline (Japp) Carwin in Proctor, Colorado. Spike was an extremely hard worker and always said "A good day's work never hurt anyone" and lived that right up to the end! Spike often quoted "I've backed up a truck more miles than most have driven" and was the king of one liners for every situation.
Spike graduated from Crook High School and then married Rebecca "Kae" Dick on July 8, 1956, in Sterling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Kae (2020) of 63 years and grandson Jason Spahn.
Spike is survived by 4 children; Terry (Tanja) Carwin of Brighton CO, Lori (Rick) Osmun of Colorado Springs, Mike (Susie) Carwin of Parker, CO and Jenni Humphrey (Tory) of Aurora, CO; 6 grandchildren, Matt (Janelle) Carwin of Thornton CO, Chris (Heather) Spahn of Colorado Springs, Annie Spahn of Colorado Springs, and Brooke, Morgan and Emme Carwin of Parker, CO; and 5 great grandchildren, Chloe and Maveric Carwin of Thornton, CO and Taysen, Ryan and Jordyn Spahn of Colorado Springs and numerous family members and friends.
