IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lonny Lorence
Mayhugh
July 20, 1958 – August 3, 2018
Lonny Lorence Mayhugh, 60, of Sterling, CO passed away at his home in Sterling, CO with his "boots on" as he would have wanted on Friday, August, 3 rd , 2018. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 9 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home with Pastor Jared Sonnenberg officiating. A reception will be held at the Riverview Golf Course in Sterling following the memorial service.
Lonny was born July 20, 1958 in Fort Morgan, CO to Donald "Larry" Mayhugh and Carolyn Mayhugh who resided in Sterling, CO. Lonny and his siblings Kristina (Kris) and Kip grew up in various parts of Northeastern Colorado. Lonny graduated from Merino High School in 1976. He met the love of his life, Barb Kerschner, while attending Merino high. They were married in December of 1979 and their family blossomed with three children; Nikki, Josh, and Dustin. The family made their home in Sterling, CO.
Lonny worked as a tire and beer salesman until 1999 when he became a Realtor, later owning Williams Realty. In Lonny's retirement he began breeding Labrador Retrievers and formed Mayhugh Kennels, a registered dog kennel. Lonny loved to golf, hunt, fish, and be generally ornery. If he never played a joke on you, or gave you grief, either he didn't get a chance or he probably didn't like you. Lonny was always a helping hand to friends and strangers alike. In lieu of tears, please shotgun a beer before a Bronco game in his honor. Just not Bud Light, he hated that stuff. Lonny was a lifelong card-carrying Republican; if you voted for Obama or Hilary recently please contribute to the NRA in his honor. Lonny worked his whole life to help Make American Great Again and also loved the Eagles, having seen them live in concert more than any other band in his life.
Lonny is preceded in death by his father, Larry Mayhugh; grandparents, Del and Florence Davison and Elmer and Lillian Mayhugh; father and mother- in-law, Francis and Alta Kerschner; numerous other family and special friends Marty Kautz and Steve Gress, with whom he is arguing the Coors/Budweiser issue at this time.
Lonny is survived by his wife Barb; his mother Carolyn; children, Nikki, Josh and Connie, and Dustin and Rachel. Lonny enjoyed spending much of his recent years watching his grandchildren, Bodie and Chase Hume, compete in sports and life.
This obituary was lovingly written and submitted by Lonny's family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lonny Mayhugh memorial in care of Chaney-Reager Funeral Home, PO Box 1046, Sterling, CO 80751.
