Obituary
Lois Luft, 94 passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017 at Devonshire Acres in Sterling. A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the First English Lutheran Church with Rev. James R. Nash officiating.
Lois was born to Hurley Frank and Hazel (Wiscoski) Gebhart on December 23, 1922, in Lakeland, Florida. After graduating from Concordia Teachers College in Seward, Nebraska and Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas, she taught in Lutheran schools in Detroit, Michigan and in Sterling. In 1948 she married John Luft, who preceded her in death in 1969. She was a long-time member of First English Lutheran Church, where she was music director from 1968 to 1986, and taught piano and organ in Sterling until 1998. She was also a member of the American Guild of Organists, the Colorado State Music Teachers' Association, the League of Women Voters, the Logan County Historical Association, and the Sterling Orpheus Club.
Lois is survived by her children, Bruce Luft of Prescott, Arizona, and Joan Luft (and husband Michael Seadle) of Berlin, Germany.
