Lloyd L. Jayroe, 75, of Sterling, passed away April 17, 2012, in Sterling. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2012, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Cremation will follow; no memorial service is planned.
Lloyd was born Jan. 3, 1937, in Santa Rosa, N.M., to Lloyd and Julia (Baca) Jayroe. His aunts helped raise him while his mother worked as a waitress. He was an only child. He attended high school for one year in Las Vegas. He graduated from high school in Santa Rosa.
Lloyd entered the U.S. Army, serving for two years in Germany until his discharge. He worked at a bank in Omaha, Neb., before moving to Denver. He worked at Hooked on Glass Antique Shop for 15 years. Will and Harvey, the owners, treated him well. In 1994, he moved to Sterling.
He took a deep interest in antique glass, yard sales, antique shows and bingo. He told good jokes, and to anyone who knew him, he somehow touched their lives. He liked to go back to Albuquerque, N.M., to be with his relatives.
A special thanks to Hilda Morrison of Brush, for making his life easier. Looking back, life is short. A span of 10 or 20 years passes quickly. The days are so short, and the nights are a mere nothing.
Lloyd is survived by numerous relatives of Albuquerque, and his friend, Lynn F. Morrison of Sterling.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
