Obituary

Lewis F. Morrison Lewis F. Morrison, 80, died Aug. 10, 2010, at Loveland. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 16, at the First Presbyterian Church, 130 S. Fourth St., Sterling. Services will conclude at the church.

Lewis was born on Sept. 3, 1929, in Denver, to Katharine Della Fox and Fred W. McDevitt. He attended Longmont Schools and graduated from Arvada High School in 1949.

Lewis served with the U.S. Marines as Private First Class, 1st Battalion, 1st Regiment in Korea from 1951-1952. Upon his return, he started farming in Arvada, worked as a welder, and drove a school bus.
He met his wife Rena Pearl Young at a Grange dance and they were married in Wheatridge on Sept. 25, 1955.

They started their first dairy farm in Arvada, later moving to Fort Collins, where they continued in the dairy business, and farming. They moved to Padroni in 1976. They farmed and had a dairy at Padroni until his retirement. They moved to Sterling after his retirement.

He served on numerous co-op boards of directors, the Poudre Valley Co-op, High Plains Co-op and Mountain Empire Dairymens Co-op. He was a member of the Holstein Association, and Dairy Herd Improvement Association and the Colorado Holstein Association. He received many awards for milk production. He was a 4-H leader in Larimer County and Logan County. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and elder. He was a member of the Padroni, Illif and Sterling Lions Clubs. He was a member of the Fort Collins Lodge A.F.&A.M. No. 19.
He loved to fish and take trips in the motor home. He enjoyed reading. He was his happiest when he was milking cows and farming.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rena; son, Bill and wife Kathy of Worland, Wyo.; son, Frank of Sterling; and daughter, Mary Hoftiezer and husband Scott of Denver; granddaughter, Julie; and grandson, Charlie; sister, Betty Renz of Westminister; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Albert; two sisters; and one brother.
Donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
