Leroy A. Berg of Sterling, Colorado, was welcomed home into the arms of his
Savior on Tuesday morning, November 24, 2015. He thrived for a wonderful 80 years. His memorial service will be held Saturday, December 5th, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Nazarene in Sterling, Colorado, with Pastor Bill Couchenour officiating.
Inurnment is to follow at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling, Colorado.
Leroy was born on September 3rd, 1935, to Edwin Benjamin Berg and Esther Lillian Berg at their home in Merino, Colorado. He graduated from Merino High School in 1953 and then attended Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado, where he majored in Business. Shortly after he graduated college, Leroy joined the Army Reserves and served our great nation for 6 years.
Leroy married Patricia Burk in Sterling, Colorado, on August the 28th, 1957, with whom they shared 36 fun-filled years. Together, they had two beautiful children, Jeff Berg and Stacy (Berg) Wurtz. Patricia (Burk) Berg was called home to our Savior in February of 1993. Leroy later remarried on July 11th, 2000, to Mary Ann Carter , and they shared an amazing 15 years together.
Leroy sold cars in Sterling for 40+ years and worked for Larson Motors, now known as Wolf Auto, for the last 24 years of his career. Leroy, his brothers, and his father also built several houses around the Sterling area. He retired in 2006. He was a proud member of the Elks Lodge, Lions Club, Camera Club, Visitors Center, Historical Society, and Country Club. He enjoyed concerts, spending time with all of his family, golfing, playing his piano, and visiting with friends.
Leroy is survived by his wife Mary Ann; sister-in-law Dorothy Berg; children Jeff Berg and his wife Kelly of Roswell, Georgia, Stacy (Berg) Wurtz and her husband David of Livermore, Colorado, James Michael Carter and his wife Teresa of Cleveland, Ohio, Kim (Carter) Reece and her husband Joe Jr. of Sterling, Colorado; grandchildren Justin Wurtz and his wife Amber, Jason Wurtz, Justin Stroup, Ashley Carter, Megan Carter, James Carter, Mason Carter, Joe Reece III, Allan Reece; and great grandchild Brielle Tucker. Leroy was a loving husband, father, uncle, grandpa, and brother.
. He was greeted in heaven by his loving family members Edwin and Esther Berg, Patricia Berg, Zachary Carter, and Peter Hernandez.
