LeeRoy Robert Lockman, 77, of Sterling, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2010, in Sterling. Visitation was 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. today, Thursday, May 20, at Bayard Cemetery in Bayard, Neb., with the Rev. Ken Marlow officiating.
LeeRoy was born Nov. 12, 1932, in Nisland, S.D., to Jack and Rose (Burback) Lockman. He served with the Army Reserves.
LeeRoy farmed through the years and recycled iron and metal. He lived in Minatare, Neb., in 1958, moving to Bridgeport, Neb., in 1964. He moved to Bayard in 1974. He has lived in Sterling since 1984.
On Jan. 19, 1958, he married Bonnie LaGray LeeRoy Robert Lockman in Minatare.
He was a member of the National Guard Reserves and attended the Calvary Baptist Church. He enjoyed camping and fishing.
LeeRoy is survived by his wife, Bonnie Lockman of Sterling; sons, Fred A. Lockman of Sterling, Jake L. Lockman and wife Josie of Sterling, Darryl E. Lockman and wife Bonnie of Bridgeport, Neb., and Gregg A. Lockman Sr. and wife Shaneen of Sterling; daughter, Vickie I. Hoerler and husband Randy of Minatare; brothers, Ronald Lockman and wife Delores of Mitchell, Neb., Richard Lockman and wife Pat of Scottsbluff, Neb., Marvin Lockman Sr. and wife Jackie of Speerfish, S.D., Jim Lockman and wife Sandi of Alliance, Neb.; sisters, Betty Low of Bayard, Deloris Dakoski of Haxtun; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Rose Lockman; daughter, Karen; and sister, Irma.
