LaVera M. Schaffer, 91 of Iron Mountain, MI passed away Sunday, September 8, 2024. Viewing will be held from 1 – 4 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 12 at Halouska Family - Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 13 at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Richard Flores officiating. LaVera will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling, CO.

LaVera was born June 19, 1933, in Leslie, Michigan to Mervil and Edna (Gailey) Hatch. She liked to read and enjoyed attending church and having lunch with the church ladies. She worked many years as a home health care nurse and would only care for one patient at a time.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Dale, son Roger Schaffer and son-in-law Terry Vallejos.

LaVera is survived by her children Gale Schaffer, Darlene (Raymond) King, Joseph (Lindsay) Schaffer, Bradley (Jilonne) Schaffer and Lorrie Vallejos, brother Claude Hatch and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
