Laurance E. Boyer Sr., 88, of Sterling, died Dec. 24, 2007, in Sterling. Visitation will be until 5 p.m. today, Dec. 27, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Young officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, with graveside services by BPO Elks Lodge No. 1336.
Mr. Boyer was born Sept. 15, 1919, to William and Mary (Jobe) Boyer. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He worked as an auto mechanic and owned and operated The Auto Clinic. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the BPO Elks Lodge No. 1336, where he was active for 62 years.
On Aug. 16, 1992, he married Germaine L. Soulard in Sterling.
Mr. Boyer is survived by his wife, Germaine L. "Frenchie" Boyer of Sterling; stepdaughters, Carol Sidman and husband Mark of Brighton, and Joan Carver of Essex Junction, Vt.; grandchildren, Ann Cutler and husband Gary of Fort Morgan, and Chris Boyer of San Diego, Calif.; stepgrandchildren, Jamie Keeler and husband John of Hudson, and Jeremy Peake and wife Mindi of Fort Benning, Ga.; and great-grandchildren, Philip and Sydney Villarreal.
He was preceded in death by his son, Larry Boyer Jr.; daughter, Louise and husband "Harley" Williams; brothers, George, Don and Harold Boyer; and sister, Katherine Stuart.
