Laina S. (Burt) Petre, 97, of Sterling, died Sept. 10, 2011, in Sterling. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at Berean Church, with the Rev. Ron Smithgall and the Rev. Dan Holsten. Graveside services will follow at Riverside Cemetery.

Mrs. Petre was born May 14, 1914, in Sterling to John and Minnie Riley.

She is survived by her son, Wallace Burt and wife Peggy; grandchildren, Nicole and husband Mike, Michael and wife Kim and Daniel and wife Kellie; and great-grandchildren, Brayden, Colton and Zachary; as well as her daughter's grandchildren, Kimberly, Richard, Suzi and husband Sam and great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Ashley, Katie, Monica, Joshua and Brandon. Honorary grandchildren Kayla and Kevin Smithgall.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Roe Morton, Clarence Burt and Gordon "Buss" Petre; sisters, Jennie Clays, Sylvia Hadachek, Elma Mentgen, Edna Bradley; and her daughter, Jeani McGarvey.
