Virginia Troutman passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 8, 2017, in Omaha, Nebraska, surrounded by family members. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m., Sunday, August 13 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 14, 2017 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home with Rev. Jodie Harless officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.

Virginia was born in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, on July 19, 1921 to the parents of Lulu and Flannery Byars. Virginia grew up on a farm near Mt. Vernon and attended local schools, graduating from Mt. Vernon High School. Upon graduation, Virginia moved from her home to the Sycamore, Illinois, area where she met her future husband Clarence Troutman. On April 5, 1941, in Clinton, Iowa, Clarence and Virginia were married. Upon returning from World War II, Clarence began farming in the Kaneville, Illinois area and Virginia became a farm wife. During this period of time two sons were born, Gary and Dale. In 1962, Clarence ended his farming career and the family moved to Durango, Colorado, where Virginia worked in local restaurants during the tourist season. In 1964 the family moved to Sterling where Virginia began a 15 year career with the local Safeway Stores. Upon retiring Virginia enjoyed her hobbies of reading, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In 2014, Virginia moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where she remained until her passing.

Virginia now joins her husband Clarence, son Dale, great grandson Tommy, parents, brothers Hal, Otis, Delbert, Pete, John and Riley; sisters Susie and Ruby.

Virginia is survived by son, Gary of Omaha; daughter-in-law Katie of Omaha; daughter-in-law Connie of Sterling; grandchildren Kelli, Jeff (Tiffany), Lindsay, Todd (Megan), Staci and Natalie (Emmanuel); great grandchildren Riley, Brenden, Jayden, Aiden, Anthony, Alivia and Ava.
