Kenneth Wettstein, 67, of Sterling, Colorado sadly left us on Friday, November 10, 2023. A celebration of Ken's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 1, at First Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Morrison officiating. The service will conclude at the church.

Kenneth was born April 17, 1956, in Holyoke, CO to Kenneth and Clara (Robinson) Wettstein. He was the 2nd of five boys. He graduated from Fleming High School in 1974. Ken married his high school sweetheart Vickie Wilson in 1975. They had four children Chad, Emily, Ryan, and Jessica.

Ken served with Holyoke Volunteer Fire and EMS from 1983 to 1999 and he also served with the Sterling and Merino Volunteer Fire Departments. He served on the Colorado State Fire Association from 1995 until his passing. He helped start the Colorado State Fire Fighters Foundation in 2016 and he served on the board until his passing. Ken was part of the National Volunteer Fire Council 2013 to current. He also did National Peer Grant Review for FEMA and Division of Fire Prevention & Control Grants from 2016 to current. He was also a longtime member of the Sterling Elks.

Ken worked many years for Holyoke School District, Melissa Memorial Hospital, and Sterling Correctional Facility.

He is preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Clara, daughter Emily, brother Ernie Wettstein, and father-in-law Ray Wilson.

Kenneth is survived by his wife of 48 years, Vickie, his children Chad (Peggy), Ryan, and Jessica (Kendall), grandchildren Katrina, Marissa, Marcus, Kodie, Gage, and Kenny, great-grandchildren Keirina, Alexander, Luka, and Cleo, brothers Dan, Jim, and Bryan Wettstein and mother-in-law Lila Wilson.
