Katherine "Katie" Hall of Sidney, Nebraska, died Tuesday May 7, 2019 at the age of 84. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Pikes Peak National Cemetery.
Katie was born December 30, 1934 to Charles and Lenola (Dillion) Jacomet of Lima, Ohio. She was the oldest of 7 children. She married Jerry L Hall on March 29 th, 1952 in their home town of Lima, Ohio. They had lived only a block away from each other. Due to Jerry being on active duty in the United States Air Force, they lived on several Air Force bases until his retirement in 1967. For most of their marriage, they lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado until moving to Sidney Nebraska in March, 2018. They celebrated their 67 th wedding anniversary in March. They raised their four children, Brian, Bruce, Colleen and Theresa, in addition to all their children's friends since the Hall home seemed to be the gathering place for all their children's friends. She also unofficially adopted others as her kids and embraced them in her heart as family. Family was very important to Katie. Katie would travel across the country to be with her parents or siblings during difficult times of illness and death.
She was active in church no matter where she was living. She was active in Woman's Aglow and taught women's bible studies wherever God led her. After Jerry retired, Katie and Jerry volunteered at a Navajo Mission in New Mexico reaching out to Native Americans. Upon returning from New Mexico, Katie volunteered with the Salvation Army, starting a Celebrate Recovery at the Salvation Army church in Colorado Springs.
Katie loved doing crafts with Colleen her oldest daughter. Katie painted, quilted, created Japanese bunka, made prayer shawls and scrapbooked. She loved creating gifts. Her favorite gifts were christmas ornaments hand crafted by Katie, a tradition that spanned many decades. Youngest daughter, Theresa, could have given a rat's patootie about crafts, a trait her husband Doug appreciates.
She is survived by her husband Jerry Hall of Sidney Nebraska; four children, Brian (Marti) Hall of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Bruce Hall of Fort Collins Colorado, Colleen (Ted) Griffin of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Theresa (Doug) Gillham of Lodgepole Nebraska; sisters Linda Scarberry of Fountain Inn, South Carolina, Tammy Harrod of Lima, Ohio and sister-in-law Linda Jacomet of Lima, Ohio. Katie was blessed with 17 grandchildren and their spouses, and 15 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Guy Jacomet and Charles "Chuck" Jacomet, sisters, Jane Poling and Leona Gibson.
