Karen Elaine Quint

Karen Elaine Quint, 78, of Sterling, passed away Friday, January 16, 2026. Viewing and receiving of friends will be held from 12-2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 21, at Halouska Family Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 22, at Halouska Family Chaney-Reager Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Paulison as officiant. Burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery.

Karen was born March 31, 1947, in Sterling, CO to Clements and Martha (Luft) Quint. She attended and graduated from Merino High School in May of 1965. Karen worked for the police dispatch in Gilroy, CA and retired and became a home daycare provider.

She married JD Japp. She received the solemn rite of confirmation at Trinity Lutheran Church on March 26, 1961. She had an unbreakable relationship with God.

She loved to sing and she enjoyed taking trips in the fall to Estes Park to see the leaves changing colors. As she could have none herself, she took great pride in caring for her children. Her greatest accomplishment was adopting her two sons Dustin and Daniel Quint.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Mark Quint.

Karen Is survived by her sons Dustin Quint of Sterling, CO and Daniel Quint of Julesburg, CO; brothers Mike Quint and Tom Quint; sister Ruth Stoffels all of Akron, CO and grandchildren Joy, of Sterling, CO and Owen and Olivia of Julesburg, CO.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital.
