Judy Kaye (Ballinger) Szabo, 79 of Sterling, Colorado passed away Wednesday, October 18th, 2023, at her home in Sterling, Colorado surrounded by her children.  A closed casket funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 28th at First Baptist Church in Sterling with Pastor Scott Morrison officiating.  A burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Judy was born February 15, 1944, in Sterling, Colorado to Virgil and Betty Ballinger.  She attended and graduated from Sterling High School in 1962.  After graduation, she earned her Associate of Arts Degree from Northeastern Junior College and her Bachelor of Arts from Colorado State College.  She later received her Master of Arts from University of Northern Colorado.  She was a professor at Northeastern Junior College for over 25 years teaching English, psychology, reading, and speech.  She received numerous awards for teaching excellence.

Judy was a devoted mother and grandmother.  She enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles.  She was also a long-time member of First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her father Virgil Ballinger.

Judy is survived by her mother Betty Ballinger of Sterling, CO, sons Scott (Michele) Szabo of Sterling, CO and Dan (Sherri) Szabo of Broomfield, CO, sisters Sandy Montano and Sue Fowler of Sterling, CO, and grandchildren Lauren, Owen, Zach, and Madelyn Szabo.
