Obituary

Josh Karg-Lawson, 33, of Sterling Colorado unexpectedly went home to be with the Lord due to an accident on Thursday, July 22, 2021. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 30 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Sterling with a lunch to follow.

Josh was born on November 5, 1987 in Greeley, Colorado and was the son of Yvette (Lawson) Karg and Bill Shepard. He went to Caliche High School and graduated in 2006. He was a member of FFA, 4-H, and enjoyed playing football and wrestling. There was never a dull moment with Josh and all his ornery friends.

After high school, Josh was notorious for being a jack of all trades. He was a welder, woodworker, handyman, mechanic, farmer and rancher. You name it, Josh could do it. His favorite places to work were with his grandpa at his irrigation business in Missouri and on his aunt and uncle's ranch helping with the farming/ranching operation.

Josh spent this past year at the 180 Ministries and during his time there he rededicated his life to Christ. He found freedom in Jesus through support from a fellowship with his brothers and mentors. Recently, Josh was making plans to do mission work and to share his testimony about the power of Christ. He longed to help others find the same freedom through Christ that he experienced. He passionately loved Christ and the transformative power the love of God can bring to a person's life.

Josh is survived by his parents Kevin and Yvette Karg, father Bill Shepard; siblings Jordan Karg, Karah (Morgan) Quint, Delaney and Khloe Karg; grandparents Rick & Sharon Lawson, Don & Judy Karg, Cindy Anderson, Mary Deganhart, Jim Shepard; aunts and uncles Jim & Tracy Yahn, Donn & Sammie Nolin, Rick Lawson Jr., Terry & Becky Walter, Bryan Shepard, and many cousins and friends.

Josh is preceded in death by his grandmother Ramona Karg and grandfather Dick Deganhart.

Please, NO FLOWERS OR PLANTS. The family would greatly appreciate donations made to 180 Ministries c/o Chaney-Reager Funeral Home, PO Box 1046, Sterling, CO 80751.
