John Vernon Boles, 72 of Sterling entered eternal life on October 29, 2016 at his home. Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the First Baptist Church. All are welcome to attend. Services will conclude at the church.
John was born July 31, 1944 in Pueblo, Colorado to Harry Hamlin Boles and Elnora Maxine Kauffman. He graduated from William J. Palmer High School in Colorado Springs in 1962 with an emphasis in business. In 1974 John graduated with an Associate in Arts degree/Bible Certificate from Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs.
John spent many happy years in Colorado Springs, where he was a much-loved voice on area Christian radio stations. His first love, however, was spreading the Gospel. To that end, he was ordained by the Rocky Mountain District of the Assemblies of God in May 2000.
Upon moving to Sterling, John sought ways to serve his Lord, purchasing a communion set so he could take communion to those in the nursing home. He loved going to preach there, and staying to visit with the residents. He was a People Greeter at Wal-Mart, and many looked forward to seeing him there.
John was preceded in death by his parents and his only brother, Robert. He is survived by his brothers and sisters in Christ, especially those at First Baptist Church, and numerous friends.
In lieu of flowers, gifts are encouraged to be made to the First Baptist Church memorial fund, 915 S. 8th Ave. Sterling, CO 80751.
