Jim W. "Motes" Motes, 73, of Peetz, died June 10, 2007, in Sterling. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 14, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Peetz, with the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Father James Baird will officiate. Burial will be at Barber Christian Cemetery in Crook.
Mr. Motes was born July 30, 1933, to Arthur and Sarah (McIrvin) Motes in Scottsville, Kan. He graduated from high school in Sidney, Neb. He was a truck driver for U.S. Truck Line.
On Aug. 12, 1951, he married Barbara Brandt in Sidney. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, were he was very active. He is also a former member of the Elks Lodge.
Mr. Motes is survived by his wife, Barbara Motes of Peetz; son, Arthur Motes of Otis; grandchildren, Fred Motes, Sandra Holloway, JoAnn Sanders, Daniel Motes and LaVena Olson; and great-grandchildren, Joey, Cassie, Katie, Kiefer, Eddy, Lamont, Anthony, Dylan, Sara, Kenneth, Kaylee and Karey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; one sister; daughter, Marie Bradford; and one granddaughter, Linda Bradford.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
