Jesus Carrasco Sr., 84, of Iliff, died April 26, 2009, in Sterling. Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, with Vigil service and rosary to follow, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Iliff, with services concluding at the church.
Mr. Carrasco was born April 13, 1925, to Urbano and Englentina (Martinez) Carrasco in Sabinal, Texas.
In 1951, he moved from Texas to Iliff, where he worked for Stoddard, Trahern and Breidenbach Brothers in the hay grinding business for several years before retiring. He moved to Stering in 2007.
On March 15, 1956, he married Iona L.H. Bull in Ovid. They were married for 20 years.
Mr. Carrasco was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Iliff.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Iona Carrasco of Sterling; daughters, Yolanda R. Thompson of Sterling, Stella Carrasco and Genevieve McCloskey, both of Rosebud, S.D.; grandson, Shad Wright; granddaughter, Nicole Hensman; and great-granddaughter, Corynn Hensman.
Mr. Carrasco was preceded in death by his son, Jesse Carrasco; daughter, Vicky Carrasco; and sisters, Maria Carrasco and Paula Jaramillo.
