Jerome "Jerry" Hradecky, 80, of Longmont, passed away June 12, 2008, in Longmont. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 26, at Chaney-Reager, with the Rev. John Thieme officiating. Services will conclude at the funeral home.
Jerry was born April 25, 1928, to Frank and Albina (Dillenburg) Hradecky in Fleming. He attended school in Fleming.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, from 1950 until his discharge in 1952 with the rank of Corporal.
Jerry worked for Beech Aircraft as a machinist for 30 years in Wichita, Kans., and in Longmont since 1976, retiring in 1990.
On July 28, 1954, he married Marjorie A. Schlueter in Burlington.
He was a member of Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church in Longmont and of the Kansas Machinist Union.
Jerry enjoyed gardening, woodworking and going on cruises. He was a native and animal lover. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was an avid reader and enjoyed Western novels.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie A. Hradecky of Longmont; daughters, Diana Prosser and husband Greg of Longmont and Jerri Zuber and husband Dale of Denver; sons, Jerome Hradecky Jr. and wife Kerry of Gladewater, Texas, and Patrick Hradecky and Preston Hradecky, both of Longmont; sisters, Agnes Folladori of Akron and Anna Krayca of Goodland, Kans.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank and Martin Hradecky; and sisters, Mary Hager and Elaine Naggatz.
