Jacqueline Jean Fritzler, formerly of Sterling, died Monday, November 13, 2017 in Tucson, Arizona. A graveside service will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Riverside Cemetery with Rev. Michelle Witherspoon officiating.
She was born in Durango, Colorado on May 25, 1926 to Marshall and Lucile Greathouse.
After two years of college at Fort Lewis, Jean finished her degree at Colorado State University. She taught bookkeeping, typing, and shorthand in Cortez for two years, then moved to a teaching position in Sterling in 1949. In 1950, she married Robert Fritzler and they raised three children on a farm northeast of town. In 1960, Jean returned to teaching at the junior high school.
She is survived by Ann Herboldsheimer of Tucson, Arizona; Jim Fritzler of Hastings, Nebraska; and Kay Pimple and husband Tom of Garland, Texas; grandchildren Dan Herboldsheimer, his wife Madee, and their children Zeph, Luke, Hugh, and Jewel; Heidi Herboldsheimer; Jennifer Bakevich and husband Bryan; Phillip Cox, his wife Kelli, and their children Klaire and Lena. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a brother, Robert Greathouse, and a sister, Patricia Mitchell.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, alz.org, which advances research in Alzheimer's disease and dementia, National Audubon Society, or a charity of your choice.
