Janice Aleen Miller Janice Aleen (Wiggins) Miller, 74, of Sterling, died peacefully Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, in her home, surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home in Sterling, with the Rev. Dale Wesley officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery.

Mrs. Miller was born Dec. 5, 1934, in Bird City, Kan., to Charles and Hazel (Hutton) Wiggins. She attended grade school in one of the few remaining one-room schools. She lived on a farm near Edson, Kan., with her parents, then moved to Goodland, Kan., where she graduated from high school.

She worked at Garlands department store and then at the dry cleaners doing the bookkeeping. She met Lee Miller while working there and they married the following year on April 11, 1954.

Janice and Lee owned a café in Goodland, and then an appliance store in Atwood, Kan. She belonged to many clubs during this time.

She moved to Sterling in 1972, where they decided to make their home.

What she loved most was spending time with her children, cooking and baking. She also loved visits from out of town family and friends. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her daughters, Sheryl Sherwood and husband Hoss of Akron, Shelley Miller of Folsom, Calif.; and her son, Kurt Miller and wife Marcia of Sterling; six grandchildren, Jason Zink, Dustin Zink and wife Jenna of Greeley, Alicia and Eric Stewart of Sacramento, Calif., Chelsee and Teejay Miller of Sterling; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee in 2001; her parents; her sister; two brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; and a great-grandson.
