Janice "Jan" Collins, 63, of Sterling, died Dec. 23, 2007, in Sterling. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at Chaney-Reager with the Rev. James R. Nash officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.
Jan was born Jan. 10, 1944, in Pilger, Neb., to Raymond E. Kumm and Hulda D. (Koehlmoos) Kumm. She graduated from high school.
On June 1, 1962, she married Charles Collins in Ovid.
In 1998, she moved from Greeley to Sterling. Jan worked as a cashier at Wal-Mart, retiring in 2003.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School and was a member of Ruth Guild. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, bowling, reading and doing crossword puzzles.
Jan is survived by her sons, Steve Collins and wife Jacque of Julesburg, and Ron Collins and wife Anna of Chappell, Neb.; daughter, Jeanna Boyer and husband J.D. of Sterling; sisters, Loreen Belgum of Scottsbluff, Neb., and Joyce Ash of Greeley; brothers, Ray Kumm of Scottsbluff and Marlin Kumm of Salt Lake City, Utah; six grandchildren, Corey, Brandi and Kayla Collins, Stacie Kubavoc, and D.J. and Darin Boyer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Hulda Kumm; and husband, Charles Collins in 2003.
