Obituary

James Harold Kler, 69, of Crook, passed away Nov. 23, 2011, in Sterling. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at United Church of Crook, with Pastor Dale Pierce officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Sterling.

James was born May 6, 1942, in Sterling, to Harold and Audrey (Dolan) Kler. He resided in Crook his entire life, graduating from Crook High School in 1960.

He farmed with family for 26 years, until 1986, and worked for the Logan County Road and Bridge Department, retiring in 2010 as a heavy equipment operator. He also served in the Army National Guard for eight years.

On Aug. 14, 1965, he married Terry Ann Gray in Arvada.

Jim was a member of United Church of Crook EFCA. He was active in his church and enjoyed singing in the choir.

He was an avid sports fan and loved watching his kids and grandkids compete. He spent his free time gardening and working in the yard.

James was loved by many, and his infectious laugh will be missed.

He is survived by his wife, Terry Ann Kler of Crook; mother, Audrey Kler of Crook; sons, David Kler and wife Pam of Julesburg, Jeff Kler and wife JaNita of Kimball, Neb.; sisters, Judy Roberts and husband Jim of Crook, Jeri Madden of Crook; brother, John Kler and wife Bonnie of Sterling; grandchildren, Zachery, Jessica and Joshua Kler of Julesburg.

James was preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie Kler; father, Harold Kler; and sister, Jan Amen.
