James "Jim" Fisher 82 of Sterling, passed away Wed., March 19, 2014 in Fort Collins, CO. Visitation will be from 4 to 6p.m. Mon., March 24, 2014, with family receiving friends at that time at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tues., March 25, 2014 at Faith United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery.

James (Jim) Edward Fisher was born November 3, 1931 in Denver, Co to Carl and Floy Fisher. A native of Sterling, he was a 1949 graduate of Sterling High School, earned an associate of arts degree from Northeastern Junior College and a bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of Denver. He was also a graduate of the University of Colorado certificate course in real estate appraisal. For 20 years, he represented northeast Colorado as agent for Equitable Life Assurance Society and then was Head Appraiser for Equitable Savings & Loan from 1973 until he retired in 1997.

Jim served as chairman of the Logan County March of Dimes for many years and also served on the Re-1 Valley School district accountability committee. He was chairman of the 1974 Logan County Fair parade. He was a Board member of the Home Owners Association-County Club Hills.

Jim was an avid lover of all sports, playing bridge and following his grandsons.

Jim married Virginia Palmer of July 1, 1951. They were married 46 years until she passed away August 12, 1997. They were parents of three daughters.

Survivors include special friend, Anne Dvorak; daughters Vicky Andersen and husband Douglas, Jacqueline Koester and husband Dean; grandchildren Ian Andersen and wife Blair, Eric Andersen and wife Elizabeth, Jared Koester, Cameron Koester; great grandchildren Lily, Ivy, Payton; brother-in-law Harry Palmer and wife Mildred; Colombian son Dr. Andy Rodriquez, nieces, nephews and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Virginia, daughter Valerie, half brothers Robert Fisher and Kirk Fisher.

Memorials may be made to South Platte Youth Football League or Christmas Lights on the Courthouse.
