James (Jim) Gerald Dabbert Jr, 63, of Sterling passed away October 16, 2013 in Greeley. He was born June 18, 1950 in Michigan City, IN, to James Gerald Sr. and Lillian Bernice (Lentz) Dabbert.
Jim worked in the oil industry for many years in other states and Colorado, settling in Sterling over 35 years ago. He belonged to the Elks Lodge and proudly contributed to the community in a variety of other positions. For several years Jim worked on the Sugar Beet Days Committee and also held the position of Commercial Exhibits Chairman for the Logan County Fair. He assisted in coaching girls' basketball teams in Northeast Colorado. Jim enjoyed outdoor sports, especially hunting and fishing.
James is survived by a daughter, Sherrie Ann Dabbert and four granddaughters of Phoenix, AZ; a sister, Jerri Calkins (Bill) of Meeker, CO and a stepdaughter, Keli Hoschouer of Julesburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Sr. and Lillian Dabbert.
A private family service will be held for Jim in Meeker, CO.
