Jacqueline Sue "Jaci" Koester passed away with family by her side at her home on Thursday, January 28, 2016 after a hard-fought battle with ovarian cancer. She was 58. Visitation will be Wed., Feb. 3 from 10am until 4pm and Thurs., Feb. 4 from 10am until 7pm with family receiving friends from 5pm until 7pm at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Services will be held Friday, February 5th at 11:00 a.m. at the Peetz Community Center, 526 Main Street in Peetz with Rev. Jodie Harless officiating. Interment will be at the Peetz Cemetery. Lunch and Celebration will follow at the Community Center.
Memorial contributions in Jaci's honor can be made to the Colorado Ovarian Cancer Alliance, Hospice of the Plains or the South Platte Youth Football League.
Jaci was born in Sterling to James E. "Jim" and Virginia L. Palmer Fisher on October 13, 1957. She graduated from Sterling High School in 1976, NJC in 1978, and UNC in 1979 with degrees in accounting and finance. She started her accounting career with Pyle and Associates, then spent the past 32 years as a CPA with Fetzer and Company in Sterling.
Jaci married Dean Koester on December 29, 1979 and moved to their farm east of Peetz where they made their home for the past 36 years. They were blessed with two boys, Jared in 1986 and Cameron in 1987.
Jaci was an avid walker, runner and workout enthusiast and could often be seen in Sterling walking to do errands or walking around Columbine Park. She was one of the founders of the South Platte Youth Football League where she served as treasurer for the past 18 years. She was active in the Peetz Lions Club, presently serving as secretary and was a past President of the Northeast Chapter of Certified Public Accountants. She was also a member of the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Jaci is survived by her husband Dean of Peetz, son Jared and wife Tara of Sterling, son Cameron and friend Amy of Peetz, sister Vicky and husband Doug of Wellington, her "brother" Andres Rodriquez of Bogota, Columbia,father-in-law and mother-in-law Don and Theresa Koester of Akron, brothers and sisters-in-law Ken and Peggy Koester of Sterling, Mike and Donna Blin of Marion, Iowa, Ron and Debi Koester of Madison, Minnesota, Dave and Luann Koester of Akron and Trina and Jerry Bellendir of Sandy, Utah and special friend Anne Dvorak of Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Valerie.
