Irvin Walter Kohlmeier, 93, of Sterling, passed away Feb. 27, 2012, in Sterling. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 1, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 2, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. James R. Nash officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Yuma Cemetery.
Irvin was born Sept. 8, 1918, in Creighton, Mo., to John H. and Marie Catherine (Walters) Kohlmeier. He graduated from Yuma High School in 1936.
He entered the U.S. Army during World War II, serving from March 1942 until his honorable discharge in February 1946.
Irvin worked at Quality Packing as a meat cutter from 1965 until retiring in 1981.
On Jan. 1, 1952, he married Alma I. Benedict in Yuma. He moved to Sterling from Yuma in 1965.
Irvin was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Alma Kohlmeier of Sterling; sons, Gene Kohlmeier and wife Joyce of Fort Collins, Ray Kohlmeier and wife Yvonne of Aurora; daughters, Theresa Northrup and husband Bryan of Haxtun, Dianna Kuhns and husband Russ of Brownsboro, Texas; grandchildren, Raygina Kohlmeier, Brianna Kohlmeier, Kristine Kohlmeier, Jessica Jones and husband Jonathan, Nehemiah Kuhns and wife Teresa, Nathaniel Kuhns, Kohlmeier Kuhns, Dane Northrup and Brandt Northrup; great-grandchildren, Anna Jones, Audrey Kuhns and Wyatt Northrup.
Irvin was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Fred, Ed, Art, Paul, Hubert and Melvin Kohlmeier.
